            INTERNATIONAL LEGO DAY IN POLAND

nternational LEGO Day at our school was celebrated on 26th January 2024. Students learned the history of Danish blocks. Each of us has had fun with them, but only a few people know how many secrets they hide. The first blocks were made in 1949, and those with the stubs and connections we know today - in 1958. Nowadays, Lego bricks are not only a toy that younger and older children stack at home. It is often an intergenerational game, loved by children as well as adults. The advantages of building with Lego are incredible: they support a child's development - creativity, ability to use instructions, critical thinking, imagination and patience... On the occasion of International Lego Day, younger students celebrated this day... of course, by creating wonderful constructions! LEGO workshops were also held, during which students explored the secrets of constructing Lego robots with the use of Lego Mindstorms EV3 sets.

            MINI ESCAPE ROOM IN POLAND

A mini escape room is a game that has no age limits, but requires logical thinking from participants. Students of lower grades had to read a quote from Walt Disney. To achieve this, they had to cooperate with each other and solve a series of intellectual puzzles. The puzzles included operations with the multiplication table, finding spelling mistakes in the text and collecting "letters" with the help of a map, using knowledge of geographical directions. Students of higher grades were tasked with saving a kidnapped teddy bear that was trapped in a suitcase with a combination lock. To find out the code to the lock, they had to guess riddles, decipher a secret message and find disappearing letters. All the tasks developed perceptiveness, the ability to recognize objects, identify similarities, differences, shapes and colours of objects in a picture.

The activities took place during winter break and were presented to parents.

            GYMKHANA IN SPAIN

In order to promote our project as well as touch on the serious problem of childhood obesity, Spanish school organised a gymkhana around the city in which children and parents had to solve problems and activities in order to finish it.

            SCIENCE FESTIVAL IN POLAND

On April 23, 2024, we organized a Science Festival at our school as part of the "Happy Science" Project. Already at the entrance, you could experience the wisdom of outstanding scientists, i.e. read the sayings they said.

For example, Maria Skodowska-Curie argued that: "You have to have perseverance and self-confidence. You have to believe that you are capable of something and achieve it at all costs."

Albert Einstein drew attention to the fact that „there are thousands of ways to kill time, but none to resurrect it“. „The mind is like a parachute. It works best when it is open.“

„There are only two ways to go through life. One as if nothing was a miracle, and the other as if everything was a miracle.“

Our most contemporary scientist, Stephen Hawking, warned: "Success in creating AI would be the biggest event in human history. Unfortunately, it might also be the last, unless we learn how to avoid the risks. "

The information obtained or collected about the reality around us could be used during a team crossword solving competition. Students randomly assigned to groups demonstrated knowledge and understanding of terms in Biology, Physics, Chemistry and the world of science in general, as well as the ability to cooperate.

We also organized an activity for people who wanted to apply the laws of physics in sports. A Petanque tournament was held at the school sports ground, the participants of which had to take into account not only values such as force, distance, mass and speed, but also the temperature because the spring day turned out to be exceptionally cold.

The summary of the Festival was a demonstration of chemical experiments conducted by seventh-graders. Younger students could observe the process of creating artificial snow, creating a lava lamp or the phenomenon of surface tension. Some also tried their hand at wrestling with... an egg. No one managed to crush it by squeezing it in their hand.

The proposed forms of classes met with great interest and showed that the world of science can be fascinating and learning about it can be a lot of fun.

During the exchange of Polish and Spanish students in Canillas, Spain the project was presented to the local authorities.

PROMOTION OF THE PROJECT IN POLAND

            EMIGRANT'S BACKPACK

Giving special emphasis to such a current and geographical theme as refugees, we decided to propose to the students a project entitled “Emigrant Backpack”, where each student, after following the instructions given, would put inside their backpack what they considered important to take with them. had to leave the house in less than three minutes.

Evidently, in a natural disaster, a sudden war or one caused by another phenomenon, will we be prepared to go out with just a backpack on our backs? What would we need? What would be missed most? What did they have to take anyway?

It is a hypothetical situation, but it allows us to leave it in the air, and currently with active wars in various parts of the world, it will be very important to be able to think about what we could carry in a backpack...

Thus, the exhibition had migration as its basic theme, where all the students carried out practical work, building their backpack and an attempt was made to reproduce a tent/tent/refugee shelter, which was intended to be done in a very simple way, but one that made people think, like It would be like living in a tent for an indefinite period of time and with the bare minimum of essentials.
