Across the curriculum - SCIENCE
- Famous scientists – brainstorming.
The students tell names of famous scientists and their their achievements in science.
- Getting to know new vocabulary -historical figures.
The students match expressions with famous people, e.g. Marie Curie was a Polish scientist. Cleopatra was an Egyptian queen. Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian architect.
- Reading years – practical exercises.
- Dialogues in pairs – asking about the dates of birth and death of historical figures presented in the pictures and giving answers.
- Famous scientist – project work.

ACROSS THE CURRICULUM – BIOLOGY
Topic: Animal bodies. My favourite animal – project work.
- Brainstorm – names of wild animals
- Animals - parts of the body. Bingo game.
- Students match the pictures of parts of the body with approriate words (beak, spots, stripes, wings, fins, fur, scales, hooves, tail, horns, paws, tusks).
- Introducing new vocabulary – names of animals presented in the pictures – repetition.
- Listening to animal sounds and guessing what animal it is.
- Describing the animals presented in the pictures.
- Project work – favourite animal. Presentation of the projects to other students in the class.
ACROSS THE CURRICULUM - GEOGRAPHY
Weather – vocabulary, speaking and writing exercises.
Stages of the lesson:
- Brainstorm – weather vocabulary
- Matching words: fog, drought, hail, Frost, flood, lightning with pictures.
- Filling tha spaces in the sentences with appropriate words: showers, thunder, lightning, snowfall, flood, sunshine, drizzle, raindrops.
- Filling the spaces with weather vocabulary.
- Choosing the correct word to create expressions related to weather, e.g. clear sky, strong winds, cool breeze, bright day, violent storm, freezing cold, weather forecast, scorching hot.
- Listening to the weather forecast and completing the table with information concerning the weather in different cities.
- Talking about the weather in Poland today/last weekend/last Christmas.
- Comparing the weather in Poland, Spain and Portugal in different seasons.
STORY IN THE PAST
Grade 7th
The students read the story ‘Lucky escape’ and matched the paragraphs to the headings. They put the events in appropriate order. Next, they joined the sentences using the sequence words and put the verbs in brackets into the correct tense. Using Past Simple and Past Continuous tenses they narrated the story. Using story cubes, they rolled the dice and created a story. The chosen students presented the story for the class. As the homework they wrote the story to the school competition.
INTERESTING TRIPS
Grade 5th
The students listened to and did exercises concerning the recording about Banff National Park. With the use of story cubes they created breathtaking stories. The student rolls the dice and starts the story based on the picture on the dice. The next student rolls the dice and continues the story based on the next picture. The story is continued by the next students.
MY CRAZY TRAVELS
Grade 6th
Students brainstormed their ideas concerning crazy travels. They gave their opinions about unusual sports presented in the pictures. They asked and answered questions related to the blog. They used DIXIT CARDS to create a story about their extraordinary journey.
UNUSUAL LESSON OF ENGLISH - PEACE DAY

ENDANGERED SPECIES
The lesson of English
Topic: Endangered species around the world
There was a discussion: ‘Why do you think animals presented in the pictures (Marmot&Kakapo) are endangered?’The students guessed, and then listened to the text to check their answers. They read the text and matched the halves of sentences. The next tasks were to mark if the sentences are true or false and post a comment on a blog. The students collected information about other endangered species and prepared a project.
WEIRD PHENOMENA
During the lesson of English students of 6th grade were searching information about weird phenomena in the world with the use of their mobile phones. In groups they collected the information and presented for the classmates. The students improved their English proficiency as well as deepened specialized vocabulary related to science. CLIL method was used during the lesson.
THE LESSON OF ENGLISH
Topic: The weather – vocabulary, speaking, listening and writing exercises.
Grade: 6th
There was a discussion about the weather. Students filled in the spaces with vocabulary related to weather. They needed to remember about the correct form of the verb. Students listened to and read the text related to weather and completed a short story with words and phrases concerning past events. They wrote a short story that began with: “Last week I saw something really strange”. As a wrap-up and reflection, students summarized the lesson and shared one new thing they learned during the lesson. One of the teaching methods used during the lesson was CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning).
CLOUDS AND WAVES
During the lesson of English the students of 7th grade deepened their knowledge of science. They got to know new information concerning clouds and waves, deepened English vocabulary related to these themes and improved English skills while presenting worked out materials and holding discussions with classmates. The CLIL method was used during the lesson.

Topic Creating charts
During an IT lesson, students made charts in MS Excel.
First, they completed a table in which they had to find and complete the following data: area, number of inhabitants, population density, length of the sea border of Spain, Portugal and Poland. They then compared the results in column and bar charts.
The next task they had to complete was to complete the table regarding the land border for the above-mentioned countries and visualize the results on a pie chart.
