Lessons of other subjects related to Maths
CROSS CURRICULAR LEARNING
There are elements of Maths in other subjects. We are presenting the lessons of other subjects connected with Maths.
English
Comparison of adjectives – comperative and superlative adjectives.
The aims of the lessons were: deepening the scope of vocabulary – adjectives, getting to know comparative and superlative adjectives, revising numbers from 1-100, developing speaking and writing skills, deepening knowledge of mathematics – revising measurement units, comparing natural numbers and decimal fractions.
During the lesson the students reminded adjectives by writing the opposites and gave their examples of adjectives of opposite meaning. Next, they filled in the table with appropriate forms of adjectives. The students were measured and weighed - they compared their height and weight using comparative and superlative adjectives.
Numbers, dates and mathematical operations - vocabulary
Fourth grade students learned cardinal and ordinal numbers, vocabulary in the field of basic mathematical operations. They performed simple calculations and wrote down the results in English. They got to know how to form dates in English and calculated age and centuries. The students also solved quizzes and played games related to the topics discussed with the use of Wordwall and Kahoot applications.
Physical Education
Teaching the standing long
Topic: Long jump
Main task: Teaching the technique of long jumping
Grade: 5
Additional task: Teaching how to measure the run-up
Educational task: Shaping jumping ability
Tools and instruments: Tape measure
The course of the lesson:
Warm up; Speed exercises; Standing jumping exercises; Jumping exercises ended with landing; Running; Summary of the lesson.
HISTORY
During History lessons we got to know biographies of famous mathematicians in our countries and in the world.
IT
How to control animation?
During the computer science lesson, students of grade 8, carrying out tasks from the core curriculum regarding presentations, made works on the topic "Surface area of geometric figures".

MATHEMATICS IN ARCHITECTURE
Younger students participated in classes on "Mathematics in architecture". The classes were conducted based on the scenario and materials included in the fifth module of the project "Natalka and Antek in the world of great mathematics". The classes were an opportunity to observe the surroundings carefully. The students watched a video on the application of mathematics in architecture. The aim of the classes was to learn the children to look at the buildings that surround them on the daily basis in a mathematical way. The children had the opportunity to see that the ability to plan, order, rhythm and symmetry can be seen in the architecture. The students discovered these regularities while observing the school building. The final result was to find mathematical elements in it and make drawings based on this topic.
ART & ICT LESSONS
During Art lessons, students had the opportunity to learn about the relationship between mathematics and art. Paintings and sculptures are often inspired by mathematical rules. This proves the interdisciplinarity of mathematics. Under the patterns, unwavering laws and rules there is aesthetics, charm and order of structures. For some mathematicians and artists, there is no clear line between mathematics and art. Students got to know places related to art, famous artists, and explored the essence of mathematics in art. They were inspired to perceive the world around them mathematically, to creativity that combines numbers and images.
During ICT lessons, students made works on the topic "Mathematics in art".

CITY GAME
On June 1, 2023, Polich students participated in the city game "We get to know the monuments of Zawiercie". The game was the result of cooperation with a secondary school - I Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Stefana Żeromskiego in Zawiercie. The aim of the game was to get to know the monuments of the city of Zawiercie and to improve the ability to solve mathematical puzzles. Students had to demonstrate knowledge of history, mathematics, Polish language and knowledge of road traffic. The tasks required not only knowledge, but also the ability to solve quizzes, riddles, logical thinking and group work skills.
We started our tour from the historic Railway Station. Each task and its correct solution led the students to explore the next monument. The next places were: Stanisław Holenderski's Villa, "Golden Horn", Stara Łaźnia, TAZ housing estate, the seat of the former Town Hall, the historic Junior High School No. 2, St. Peter and Paul Cathedral. We ended the tour in the Szymański Palace.
MATHEMATICAL RECORDS
The students create Voice Thread online albums (picture and sound) related to math records - the phenomenal facts that inspired them.
MATHEMATICAL CURIOSITIES & PUZZLES
The students think over mathematical puzzles for their partners on their own, thus stimulating their creative thinking. In international groups, they search for intriguing curiosities concerning mathematics,, which they exchange.
